How do combo points work?

Combo points represent getting your target off-balance, maneuvering him into a position that leaves him vulnerable for a devastating attack. Many of the rogue special attacks and abilities award a combo point (this will be noted in the description) against the current target. This is represented by a string of bubbles under the target's portrait that fill in as you get combo points. You can accumulate up to five combo points against a given target.

Once you have built up a number of points, you gain access to attacks called finishing moves. These moves use up all combo points you have built up and inflict a powerful effect (such as additional damage added to your attack). The power of the effects depend on how many combo points you have, so if you use a finishing move with five points it will be more effective than with three.

Combo points only apply to the target that you built them up against, so you can not get five combo points against a weak target and then use a finishing move against a tougher one. Likewise, if your target dies before you have a chance to use a finishing move, the combo points you have built up against him are wasted.
