There are two ways to learn new abilities that you can teach to your hunter pet. You can learn abilities from the pet trainers, found in major cities, or learn them from taming new beasts and using them in battle. But to learn these new abilities, a hunter will first need to complete the quest Training the Beast, which you will receive at level 10 after completing the quest Taming the Beast.
When you have completed Training the Beast, speak with a pet trainer. They will offer a list of skills that you can purchase for a fee. To teach these to your pet, summon the pet and click on the Beast Training icon in your spellbook. This will open a new window that shows a list of all the abilities you can teach your pet, and how many training points they cost. Your pet will earn training points by gaining experience with you while you defeat enemies.
When you have trained your pet in these new abilities, click on the Pet tab at the bottom of your spellbook. This will display all the skills your pet knows. Drag the icons to your pet's action bar. You can now use these abilities by clicking on the icons. Some skills are auto-cast, which means they will activate by themself. You will know a skill is auto-cast because its border has gold sparkles. You can deactive an auto-cast ability by right-clicking. Right-click again to reactivate the auto-cast.
You can also learn new abilities by taming new beasts and using their abilities in battle. If you are high enough level, and the pet knows a special ability, you will learn it from them when they use it. This may take some time. The new skill will appear in your Beast Training menu, which you can access by clicking on the Beast Training icon in your spellbook. Teach these new skills to your other pets just as you would a skill you learned from a Pet Trainer.
To unlearn your pet's abilities, visit a Pet Trainer and select the "unlearn my pet's abilities" option. This will unlearn all their skills and refund their training points, allowing you to train them again as desired.
