WoW, A different kind of MMORPG

After playing this game, it is obvious that you either love it or hate it. The other reviews on this site give evidence to that as well with the scores ranging from 3 to 10.

Well this is what I thought.

Graphics: 10/10

I run a low end laptop, this game ran great for being a brand new game, I didn't need to adjust the settings. I could boost the default graphics up to high end and the game still ran very well. The scenery was awesome; huge rolling plains, that reminded you of a sunny day in africa, as far as you can see. On the flip side the night elf world is dark, and very dense, the lighting is awesome.

The cities are where it is at. All the races have one major city, and WoW! These are some of the biggest cities I have seen in an RPG, it literally takes around 10 minutes of flat out running to get from one end to the other.

Characters are very good looking, I would have liked a little more customization like SWG and EQ2, but it is still enough to make your guy look fairly unique.

Sound: 10/10

Sounds are awesome, the metal clanging, and bows with the "twang" sound, cats and birds and everything, great.

Gameplay: 8/10

My biggest complaint is that if you pick a race, you pretty much have to do the same missions, for example: I picked a human warrior, I get to level 10 and decide that a human mage is more my type. Well I have to do the same missions that I just did all over again. Granted you don't -have- to do missions but it will take a long time to level up without them. Another complaint of mine is that the targeting system and combat system seem alittle broken as of this writing. Everyone one who has played nightelf and done the mine shaft, bear/panda quests knows what I'm talking about. These stupid panda things ... once they target you, you can run and run and run and they will not stop following you. If they do, chances are you ran right into another one. There is also no escape, you can't shadow meld, you can't eat food, only potions and spells to regain life. At certain times you will be fighting one, when all of the sudden another will respawn right next to you and then you have to fight two of them.

I wish they would have NPCs selling potions also. It is impossible to heal in that mine cave or anywhere if you don't have access to the spells or potions which drop very rarely. Since everyone in that area is such a low level no one can really make them. It's just bad.

Overall:

I would say it is a very fun game, Lots of replay ability if you can get past that first hump. A huge world, thousands of characters, Overall a great MMORPG.
